Apprenticeship Program : Introduction
Apprenticeships are specially structured programmes which are designed to train young workforce in an organization or company while giving them a scope to learn the job with hands on experience, earning money, and equipping themselves with value added knowledge, skill and required qualifications (Eayrs, 1993). Apprenticeship is a method of acquiring experience in a particular field and learning by working on the professional front. Apprenticeship has gained its popularity since the time of medieval period. The term, “apprenticeship” is used to explain the learning methods and developing knowledge, sharpening skills etc by working professionally in the field of operation (Billett, 2001). Modern day world is leaning more and more towards job oriented trainings and education. Since the numbers of apprentices are increasing at a huge rate, and from plumbing to social care, they are learning everything in every possible field. The research study describes about various aspects of apprenticeship, focusing on apprenticeship and the experiences one gather by working in a beauty salon (Bidelle, 1998).
Apprenticeship is methodical in its approach, and it passes through all the levels of professional hierarchies in a particular occupational field, and it can embrace many professions starting from plumbing to social work, medical expertise to software engineering, carpenters, barber to musicians and actors (Korczynski, 2002). Countries and states regulate norms and policies to guide apprenticeships for vocational training purposes. There have been social and commercial partnerships in between states and countries throughout the world to fund and promote apprenticeships to build skilled workforce (Eraut, 2002). State governments, trade unions, employers and organizations are in favor of apprenticeship, and they are making it a part of the training and education system to enjoy the benefits of skilled workforce at minimal resource wastage. Countries like UK and USA had vacillating attitude towards apprenticeship, but going with the current flow both the countries are now facilitating environment to focus on vocational trainings more and more to reduce the amount of outsourcing, and build up local manpower with specific skills. Also countries are now boosting economic growth by promoting entrepreneurships and so apprenticeship is gradually making its way towards mainstream education system (Fuller & Unwin, 2007).
This annotation is an augmentation towards the general arguments on benefits and drawbacks of apprenticeships, how it works, and apprenticeships in different ages, in young adults and in teenagers above sixteen years, who are willing to learn and earn from an early age as to promote self dependencies from a very young age. This research essay is also to clearly examine the differences in apprenticeship programmes between the age group of 16-19 and 19-24. This research also describes in brief about different laws, rules and regulations of government as a part of their planning to promote and improve apprenticeship.
This annotation focuses on apprenticeship as a model which can be utilized as a potential tool to be used in education and training systems in promoting economic growth and entrepreneurship in various fields , and in promoting healthy financial growth in youth of the country. This report majorly discusses about apprenticeship programmes in a beauty salon, in different age groups, from 16 to 18, and from 19 to 24. How the trainings are conducted, how the learning gets channelized into an entrepreneurship, and how the industry policy decisions and instrumentations regarding apprenticeship has gone under a sea change, by making it a continuous learning model (Borghans & Duckworth, 2008).
This following research sets out to investigate and discuss in brief about apprenticeship in a beauty salon for the young adults , ranging from the age group of sixteen to eighteen (16-18) and nineteen to twenty four (19-24).
The main objectives of this research paper if summarized focuses upon some key aspects. A thorough review and analysis of available literature related to apprenticeship programmes, especially apprenticeship programmes in beauty salon, both for the age groups of sixteen to eighteen (16-18), and nineteen to twenty four (19-24) was done. The main ides was to evaluate the role of an apprentice in a beauty salon, how the process starts and proceeds towards personal and professional development, what are the differences in apprenticeship programmes in different age groups, and why is it so? What are the benefits of apprenticeship programmes, and whether apprenticeship works in a beauty salon?
