Assessment 1

The development of leadership capacity in the field of early childhood continues to be a critical challenge to the profession. The national policy agenda that focuses on quality in children’s services and schools calls for all educators to look beyond their classroom door and engage with families and communities. Indeed this is exemplified in the National Quality Standards apart from other policy documents.

Your task is to write a rationale, centred on the evidence based literature as to why it is important for educators to stand as leaders and engage with families and communities in educational settings.

Topic:With reference to credible contemporary literature and evidence-based research write a rationale for why educators should lead families and communities in engaging with school communities and/or children’s educational services.

Remember to:

  • Justify your perspective with reference to evidence-based research and recent literature (last six years) drawn from credible journals and sites. Less recent literature can also be included if relevant.
  • Make links to the NQS and the AITSL standards where possible
  • Move beyond description towards critical analysis and reflection, demonstrate a connected argument that merges theory and practice.
  • Comply to academic writing conventions, including correct referencing format both in-text and end-text of the assignment is expected. The ECU Libraries are well resourced and should be utilised. The conventions for referencing at ECU are described on the web available at: http://intranet.ecu.edu.au/learning/supp...U-Referencing-Guide-2014-July-update.pdf
